Meet Your Magazine Pals at the Mingle

The 10th annual networking event is set for January 31.

Editors and publishers, tell your staffs (and yourselves) to come on down to the Minnesota Magazine Mingle, the once-a-year happening for magazine professionals that makes the deadlines and drama of everyday publishing feel like something to celebrate!

Are you trolling for new writers to expand your stock? Are you a writer looking to meet an editor you’d like to know, or hoping to meet some editors you haven’t even thought of who could be interested in what you have to offer?

This unique networking opportunity, sponsored by the Loft Literary Center and the Minnesota Magazine and Publishing Association, is designed to put members of our dynamic publishing community within easy reach of each other so that new relationships result.

And the Mingle makes it easy. Matchmakers work the room to identify writers and editors who might have shared interests, and seek out attendees who need a little help getting connected with conversational partners.

This year the Mingle is going a step further to introduce Speed Dating: Editors of 10-plus magazines will host tables where writers can introduce themselves, describe their skills and interests, and move to the next table with pockets full of business cards.

The beautiful site at Open Book in downtown Minneapolis is the perfect location for an event like the Mingle. Attendees pick up their badges at the registration table in the upstairs lobby, moving to the refreshment tables where food and a cash bar are available. In the Performance Hall, tables bearing copies of the many magazines published in Minnesota are available for scanning and discussion; several binders with magazine mastheads are located around the hall so attendees can see who’s responsible for what at which magazines. And don’t neglect to stay for the door prizes!

The Mingle takes place on Thursday, January 31, 2013, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Open Book, 1011 Washington Avenue South in Minneapolis. Parking is free across the street at Periscope, 921 Washington Avenue South.

Be sure to show off your publications at the Mingle. Send three copies of each of your titles (different issues okay) to the following address.
