From the Digital Lab: Marketing Lessons From Building a Baseball Fan Community

Nick Nelson of has grown from baseball blogger to content strategist

Nick Nelson is one of the founding partners of, a successful digital publication that appeals to passionate followers of Minnesota’s rich baseball scene, particularly the Minnesota Twins and their entire farm team system.  

Nick and his cohorts—John Bonnes, Seth Stohs, Brock Beauchamp and Parker Hageman—deliver geek-level content updated every day for their website, a collection of blogs, an e-newsletter and several events. They also produce a popular podcast in partnership with Aaron Gleeman, editor-in-chief of the highly respected Baseball Prospectus. The Twins Daily crew is celebrating its fifth anniversary this summer, and they’re not slowing down.

Nelson is a University of Minnesota journalism grad and a long-time sports junkie. He shared his thoughts on five years with Twins Daily here, but Nick’s expertise as a digital content producer extends well beyond his role at Twins Daily. He recently joined TopRank Marketing, an outstanding Minneapolis-based digital marketing agency, as a content strategist.
