Twitter 101
You can use Twitter on your phone or on your computer.
From your computer, simply go to www.twitter.com and create an account. All you need to create a Twitter account is a valid email account. Then you choose a username and password, and you're good to go. Once you're logged, in you can tweet in the supplied text box on the home page.
Once you've set up your account, there are many ways to tweet from your phone.
- If you have an iPhone, Echofon is a great application that allows you to use multiple accounts so you're able to switch back and forth once you've entered each account's login information.
- If you have a Blackberry, there's UberTwitter and Twitter for Blackberry. Unlike Echofon, you can only be logged in to one account at a time. Again, you must supply the username and password to set up the application before you're able to tweet. Then, to tweet, you simply type in the text box and click update.
If you don't have a smart phone, there's still a way! You simply have to set up your phone at http://twitter.com/devices and then tweet to number 40404 once you've registered.
Posts are a maximum of 140 characters. If need be, use abbreviations or symbols for words to shorten what you want to say to make it fit.
The @ symbol is used to mention another Twitter user. If you prefer not to log in to the MMPA account, you can always mention MMPA by saying @friendsofmmpa. There should be no space between the @ and the username.

Has anyone had continued success linking up with sources to locate and keep in touch with potential interns? We've found our success by word of mouth, but there has to be a better way?
