MMPA Summit a Success!

By Sherry Collins

The MMPA Summit and Expo was on all counts a rousing success. The event drew a record 213 people to the Earle Brown Heritage Center located in Brooklyn Center. This Summit has become a must-attend event for many in the publishing world.

“I thought the event went unbelievably well. There was a lot of energy from the exhibitors and the attendees,” says Kathryn Forss, president of MMPA. “People seemed to enjoy the venue and people kept commenting to me that they were leaving the day with full brains.”

The MMPA twitter feed captured much of the buzz throughout the day. Just a sampling of some of the tweets:

  • “At #mmpa show, @atompkins showing just how far behind we are in the publishing world. Learning a ton.”
  • “#mmpa Mobile advertising was 743 million in 2010. It's projected to be 1.1 billion in 2011.”
  • “Learned a ton at #mmpa summit yesterday. Keith Gilbert's talk on designing for iPads & other tablets was worth the price of admission.”
  • “To define your audience, don't just ask questions. Ask the RIGHT people the RIGHT questions. Jo Davison #MMPA”

“The summit was a great event and I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed it more,” says Forss. The volunteers and staff did a great job to put on a wonderful day.” “It’s going to be difficult to top the success on this year, but that is MMPA’s goal and we’re up to the challenge.”

We’re interested in any feedback attendees may have about the Summit. Contact the MMPA office to tell us what you thought (office@mmpa.net) or give us your immediate opinion at our LinkedIn page.
