MMPA Kicks Off 2012 Happy Hours
Ten events open to all professionals interested in magazine publishing
Are you a Minnesota magazine publishing professional looking for some great connections? Then MMPA H.H. is the place for you.
“The Happy Hours (now known as H.H.) are back this year with a few new twists,” said Franchise Times’ Steven Pease.
MMPA H.H. takes the work out of networking, Pease said. Formerly the Young Professionals Group, the reimagined group of both young and seasoned magazine professionals will become patrons of fine Twin Cities establishments during the 10 MMPA H.H.’s planned for 2012. Locations will loop from downtown and Uptown Minneapolis to St. Paul.
Pease astutely described the planned H.H. events as “awesome and fun,” adding that networking is something people have come to expect from attending the MMPA Happy Hours. Prior Happy Hours featured a great range of experience of Minnesota magazine professionals. In the past, editors, writers, sales personnel, graphic designers, managing editors and ad sales professionals attended. Publishing professionals who are looking for first time employment and/or not yet established in the Minnesota magazine world are encouraged to attend.
Details: Admission is free. MMPA will provide the appetizers, you cover the drinks. Lucky H.H. attendees will go home with a coffee gift card—thanks to a Sales & Marketing Management sponsorship—and will even get a crack at “Pub Quiz,” a Jeopardy-style test of knowledge to break the ice.
The first MMPA H.H. is set for 5:30 p.m., Thursday, February 23 the News Room (990 Nicollet Mall) in downtown Minneapolis. Attendees are encouraged to park in the Target store parking ramp, on LaSalle at 9th and 10th. The public parking ramp is $5 after 4 p.m.
