The Minnesota Magazine Mingle Is Back
Susan Niemi, associate publisher, Industrial Fabrics Association International
January 25 is the date for annual networking event at the Loft.
Although January 25 is weeks (and degrees) away, you’ll want to get this date on your calendar. The Magazine Mingle—a celebration of publishing in Minnesota—is sponsored by the Loft Literary Center and the Minnesota Magazine and Publishing Association.
This ninth annual Magazine Mingle is your opportunity to join other magazine professionals in a casual setting to network and marvel at the quality and quantity of Minnesota magazines on display. Editors and freelance writers, primarily, will gather to shake hands, put faces to names, and share information.
Hervey Evans, president of Erasmus Inc., says, "I have always believed that Minnesota is the best place in the country to 'commit' magazine publishing—we are accessible to the entire country and can reach either coast easily; we are close to the key vendors and suppliers in the business; and we are neighbors with the best writers and designers in the magazine world. The Mingle is a celebration of that fact and an opportunity for us to meet and help one another."
The Magazine Mingle takes place on January 25, 2012, at Open Book, 1011 Washington Ave South in Minneapolis. There will be light refreshments and a cash bar. Free parking is available at Periscope, 921 Washington Avenue South.
Supporting organizations for the event include the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA), the National Writers Union (NWU) and the Professional Editors Network (PEN). Members of all organizations receive the member rate.
Registration is open now; sign up early for reduced rates (including rates for multiple registrations).
