Thank Them!

By Terry O’Neill, Editor, Powder and Bulk Engineering, Powder and Bulk Engineering International

I’ve always thought that we MMPA members are lucky. We’re actively involved in an industry that informs, educates, and entertains hundreds of thousands of people. The people we work with are bright, creative, earnest, and inventive. Not everyone can say that about their industry or their job.

With all the challenges the publishing industry is facing, we keep going, offering our readers more content and more ways to access it. It’s time to recognize the people who motivate, inspire, and lead us.

Besides the exciting awards for editorial, design, digital, and other hands-on publication work, MMPA has several special awards that will be presented at the Awards Gala. Among these are the Greg Carey Award and the Innovator Award. In essence, these are people’s choice awards—we members can nominate the people and companies we feel are most deserving of the special recognition these awards confer. This is your chance to nominate outstanding candidates. (Yes, you may nominate yourself or your company if they fulfill the requirements of the award.)

The Greg Carey Award goes to an MMPA member who has shown outstanding leadership and service to the organization. This should be someone who has worked on committees, driven positive change in the organization, and willingly stepped up as needed to help the organization carry out its mission of education and promotion of the magazine industry. Who do you know who fits this description? For more details and a nomination form, click here.

The Innovator Award recognizes a company that has successfully established and executed a new concept in the magazine publishing business. This might be a successful new type of magazine, a more efficient production technique, a strategy that produces a significant increase in ad sales or subscriptions, or some other novel concept that has radically changed thinking, products, processes, or the organization. The winning company must be an MMPA member company. For more details and a nomination form, click here.

Will your nominee win? Find out at the Gala, Thursday, November 3, at the Nicollet Island Pavilion. Register yourself and your colleagues here!
